Home is where the heart is, and your kitchen is the center of everything in your home. You’re there every day from making your morning coffee before running out the door to every day eating, cooking, gathering at dinner parties, playing games, and so much more. Shouldn’t your kitchen have a gorgeous, and functional, centerpiece that you can use for a life time?
Herringbone Boards are heirloom quality cutting boards made for exactly that. A long lasting, elegant, addition to your kitchen. Something you’ll use for every day chopping and cutting and beautiful so you can leave it out on your counter or use it as a serving tray for your next barbecue.
Made for serious chipping Herringbone Boards are built with end grain facing up as all professional grade butcher blocks should be. Not only does this create a harder and more durable surface for cutting but it helps keep your knife edges sharper longer. The herringbone pattern, with classical references all the way back to ancient roman road construction, is used as an elegant and subtle pattern that doesn’t distract from your cutting and adds a great background for your food pictures! The interlocking design also makes these boards super strong as you can see by the same pattern used to build the dome of the Florence Cathedral.
Oh yea, these aren’t mass manufactured in some sweat shop. They are all individually hand made by a craftsman in San Francisco. Working from a co-working shop in down town SF has its benefits and drawbacks, but space is very expensive in the city as is the machinery required to make such beautiful cutting boards. It’s also really great to see individuals making real products in the bay area.
